Horse Judging Team

The horse judging team is open to all majors. Students typically complete ANSC 308 Horse Evaluation in the Spring, and have the opportunity to travel to a collegiate spring horse judging contest and travel to well-known equine farms and ranches. The following Fall, the team practices and attends the Reichert Celebration, the All American Quarter Horse Congress, the American Quarter Horse World and the National Reining Horse Association North American Futurity. Horse judging promotes independent thinking and decision making skills as well as oral communication skills. Please contact coach Dr. Laura White with any questions.

Internships are an integral part to a well-rounded graduate. Internships are often outside of New Mexico and span several months, a semester or summer is common. Recently, NMSU students have completed internships in prestigious programs such as the KEMI Internship Program in Kentucky and the 666's Ranch in Texas. Professors and instructors in the equine field are well connected to industry leaders and want to help you find an internship that suits your career goals.
