Aggies Go Global has launched the first Women's Economic Leadership Scholar program to India! The Women's Economic Leadership Scholar program provides female NMSU ACES college undergraduate and graduate students to have a global conference experience, focusing on students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to go abroad. Organized by Aggies Go Global, participants will spend 11 days in India on a non-credit program combined with leadership workshops, learning how to engage in the local and global community. Selected students will be attending the Women's Economic Forum Conference and will have the opportunity to learn how to become a global citizen leader.

Eligibility:

A female ACES college undergraduate or graduate student
Interested in learning how to be a global leader
Graduating no earlier than Fall 2018
In good standing with the university
Completed at least one semester at NMSU Las Cruces campus with a 3.0 GPA or higher
18 years or older at time of application

The Opportunity:

8 students will be selected to participate as a Women's Economic Leadership Scholar. Selected students will participate in leadership activities, learn more about how to become a global citizen, spend 11 days in India with Ms. Claudia Trueblood and Ms. Angelina Palumbo. Students will have the opportunity to be leaders among their classmates, and network while experiencing the wonders of India. The cost to the student selected is $1550. This includes your flight, but does not include passport, dinners and spending money while abroad.

The Itinerary:

Sunday, April 22nd
Leave El Paso, Texas for New Delhi, India

Monday, April 23rd
Arrive to New Delhi, India at 1:30 am
Transfer to hotel and eat breakfast.
Visit Qutub Minar, Humayun's tomb, India Gate, Parliament House and Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Return to hotel.

Tuesday, April 24th
Breakfast at the hotel.
Leave for Agra and check into hotel.
Visits to the Agra Fort, local markets, and the Taj Mahal at sunset!
Return to hotel.

Wednesday, April 25th
Second visit to the Taj Mahal at sunrise.
Breakfast at the hotel.
Return to New Delhi for tour of Old Delhi - Raj Ghat and the Red Fort.
Rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk and a visit to Jama Masjid.
Return to hotel.

Thursday, April 26th - May 1st
Attend the Women's Economic Forum Conference
Late evening flight back to El Paso, Texas to arrive on May 2nd.

FAQ

Accommodations will be in double rooms at the Novotel Aerocity in New Delhi. It is a 5 start hotel 4 minutes walking distance to the conference.

Language Requirement - There is no language requirement for this program.

Health and Safety - Students should always practice good personal security and situational awareness. Be aware of your surroundings (including local customs and etiquette) and keep a low profile.

Application Timeline:

Complete the Women's Economic Forum Application by November 27th and email to Angelina Palumbo apalumbo@nmsu.edu. 8 students will be selected to participate in the program only, and will be decided November 28th. Students will confirm acceptance no later than 5:00pm November 29th. The first meeting with the group will be November 30th at 8:15am or 1:30pm, depending on your class schedule in Gerald Thomas room 220.
