Women On Target Shooting Clinic
Instruction Shooting Clinic for women will be held on April 18, 2015, 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. in Logan, NM. There will be an orientation and shooting instruction. The group will meet at the Logan Gun Club for Rifle and Pistol instruction.

After lunch there will be shotgun instruction. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Space is limited to 30 women. You must be 18 to participate. Cost for the Clinic is $20.00 per person which includes firearms, targets, ammunition and lunch.

Quay County Cultural Arts Day
The Quay County Cultural Arts Day will be held at the Conchas Baptist Church. Registration and Cultural Arts entries will be from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with morning refreshments. The program will include:
  • Information on Alzheimer's presented by Helen Karns.
  • Clay pot decorating craft activity prepared by the Conchas ladies. A $4 per pot charge will cover the pot and supplies
  • Potluck lunch. Sandwiches and salads will be provided. Please bring a dessert.

Quay County 4-H Steer and Heifer Show Clinic
Clinic will begin at 6:00 pm on April 24th at the Quay County Fairgrounds. First on the agenda will be feeding, management and clipping of your project on Friday evening.

Livestock will stay overnight at the fairgrounds and we will begin again at 8:00 am on Sat. morning the 25th, with showmanship practice followed by a steer and heifer jackpot. Prizes will be presented following the program.

All Quay County steer and heifer showers are highly encouraged to attend. Please bring your clippers, trimming chute and other equipment. We should be finished around noon on Saturday. RSVP by April 20th. More info...

Los Alamos Team 4-H will be hosting a Dairy Goat Showmanship Class April 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The class is open to youth and adults.

Topics cover will be: Showmanship in the Arena, Grooming, Exhibitor appearance. We will also plan to have a quiz bowl. We have a $10 charge to participate that will be used to buy prizes for the dairy goat quiz and a gift for our instructor. If money is an issue, let me know so we can waive the fee. NMSU Bull Sale
32nd Annual Cattle Sale will be held Saturday April 25, 2015.

The bulls were transported to campus and then the performance test started on December 19th. There will be approximately 40 bulls offered for sale this year representing the Angus, Brangus and Brahman breeds.

These bulls come from cattle that have been in this desert for many generations. Also, they are managed exactly like your range cattle and are backed by many generations of performance records. No females will be offered due to the extensive culling of cows that took place over the past couple of years as a result of the drought.

Historic Garden Restoration presented by the Santa Fe Master Gardeners Association
Historic Garden Restoration will be the topic of the July workshop lead by the Santa Fe Master Gardeners Association.

The Santa Fe Master Gardeners began working with the Historic Santa Fe Foundation in late 2012 on restoration of this garden in a manner that reflects locally responsible gardening practices. After an initial assessment (existing plantings, soil characteristics, availability of water, etc). They developed a garden design and a work plan to address the needs and enhancements of this established garden.

Now in its third year, project activities will focus on pruning, drip irrigation, relocating plants to eliminate crowding, adding new plants, maintenance of compost bins and recommending other improvements to the garden.

    32nd Annual Cattle Sale will be held Saturday April 25, 2015.

    The bulls were transported to campus and then the performance test started on December 19th. There will be approximately 40 bulls offered for sale this year representing the Angus, Brangus and Brahman breeds.

    These bulls come from cattle that have been in this desert for many generations. Also, they are managed exactly like your range cattle and are backed by many generations of performance records. No females will be offered due to the extensive culling of cows that took place over the past couple of years as a result of the drought.
