This class is designed for the novice salsa maker or someone looking for a refresher.

Learn to turn your chiles and other produce into delicious salsa. Hands-on activities include preparing salsa and safely using canning equipment. Registration is $15 payable by cash or check at our office. Class size is limited to 12 people. Pre-registration and payment is due by July 29 in order to reserve your space.

Range Tour Taos Plateau and Rio Grande del Norte National Monument
Sagebrush and P-J range rehabilitation tour is sponsored by Taos Soil and Water Conservation District. This is a two day event taking place on August 6-7. And the schedule will be as follows.
August 6 - West of the Gorge on private ranches and Taos Plateau portion of the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument.
August 7 - East of the Gorge on grazing allotments and Wild Rivers Recreation Area of National Monument and private ranches in Sunshine Valley.
The Tour will include:
  • 14 stops, 21 speakers including ranchers and agency personnel.
  • Learn rehabilitation methods that have been tried and vegetation species that thrive.
  • See effects of thinning and fire on P-J.
  • Guidebooks and lunches provided.

This 2 day course will be presented in English at the South Valley Economic Development Center (SVEDC), 318 Isleta SW, Albuquerque, NM on August 8-9, 2016.

This is a certification course for managers and supervisors of food processing operations of thermal procession systems, acidification, and container closure evaluation programs for low-acid and acidified canned foods.

The school satisfies the training requirements specified in both the FDA and USDA regulations for Acidified foods only. More info...

FSPCA - FOOD SAFETY PREVENTATIVE CONTROLS ALLIANCE
FDA, FSMA -- HARPC (Hazard Analysis and Risk-based Preventive Control) TRAINING & CERTIFICATION course will be presented at the South Valley Economic Development Center (SVEDC), 318 Isleta SW, Albuquerque, NM, 87105 on August 10-12.

This course, developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA), is the "standardized curriculum" recognized by FDA. Successfully completing this course approved by FDA meets the requirement of a "Preventive Controls Qualified Individual" (PCQI).

It will provide participants with the knowledge needed to create a Food Safety plan that complies with the Hazard Analysis and Risk-based Preventive Control (HARPC) for Human Food rule. TARGET AUDIENCE: Potential Preventive Control Qualified Individual (PCQI); Personnel responsible for the implementation of FSMA HARPC; Facilities that manufacture, process, pack or hold human food; Consultants.
