Santa Fe
NMSU to host pueblo and community agricultural conference in Santa Fe
New Mexico State University's New Mexico Outreach Project is hosting a two-day conference, New Mexico Pueblo and Community Agriculture Conference on Thursday, Aug. 14, and Friday, Aug. 15, at the Santa Fe County 4-H Building, 3229 Rodeo Road, Santa Fe.

The program contains a wide variety of topics affecting livestock, crops and forage production.

Session topics include herd health, horse care, managing rangeland in drought conditions, wildlife damage, forage and vegetable production, invasive species control, soil health and fertility, and integrated pest management.

Programs will be presented by NMSU Extension specialist Marcy Ward, Jason Turner, Nick Ashcroft, Sam Smallidge, Leonard Lauriault, Rick Arnold, Carol Sutherland and Robert Flynn.

Representatives of the Farm Service Agency, Natural Resource Conservation Service and the National Agriculture Statistics Service will provide U.S. Department of Agriculture agency updates.

Registration for both days of the conference is $50 before Aug. 4 and $60 at the door. Pre-registration is important to ensure that adequate seating space and meals are available. Bernalillo County Extension Master Composters Fall 2014 Training
The next Master Composter Training is scheduled for Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings, October 15 to November 8, 2014, at the Bernalillo County Extension Office in Albuquerque. The purpose of the training is to educate people to be expert composters who will then teach others how to compost. It is not necessary to be a resident of Bernalillo County to take the training.
