NMSU to host annual Indian Livestock Days on May 11-13 in Albuquerque
Cattle production in the Indian Country of northwestern New Mexico is on the increase, with revenue of $125 million in 2015, according to the New Mexico Department of Agriculture annual agricultural statistics.

To help producers continue to improve their herds and profit, New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service hosts the New Mexico Indian Livestock Days annually in Albuquerque.

This year’s conference will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, May 11 to 13, at Route 66 Casino Hotel on Interstate 25 west of Albuquerque. More info...

The Environmental Conditions of the Animas and San Juan Watershed Conference
This two-day conference will be held May 17-18 at San Juan College in Farmington. Presentation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

The conference, which will have an emphasis on the Gold King Mine spill and other mine water issues, is hosted by the New Mexico Water Resources Research Institute, which is housed at New Mexico State University.

Registration cost is $175.

Pressure Canning Class
Join us on MAY 20, at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church located at 3900 Trinity Dr. Los Alamos, NM 87544 for a PRESSURE CANNING CLASS.

This class is designed for the novice home canner or someone looking for a refresher. It will be taught by Extension Home Economist Helen Idzorek.

Learn the most up to date information about pressure canning with hands-on activities include using canning equipment and canning low acid products.

Jason would like to invite all 4-H Pig, Lamb, Goat, Steer and Heifer showers to participate in the Showmanship Clinic. The Clinic will begin at 6:00 p.m. on June 24.

4-Hers need to bring equipment to clip and shear one or two of their animals. It is encouraged that your livestock remain at the fairgrounds overnight.

At 8:30 a.m. on June 25, we will begin with showmanship practice, followed by sheep and goat, and finally steer and heifer. After the practice we will have a showmanship jackpot with prizes to the best showmanship.

This two-day conference will be held May 17-18 at San Juan College in Farmington. Presentation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

The conference, which will have an emphasis on the Gold King Mine spill and other mine water issues, is hosted by the New Mexico Water Resources Research Institute, which is housed at New Mexico State University.
