Rules set for walking in Jan. 20 graduation

County College will conduct a graduation ceremony at the closing luncheon of the NMAC Mid-winter Legislative Conference set for 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20. Students eligible to take part in the ceremony are those who will complete their certification requirements during the week of Jan. 18. This includes students registered for their final requirements even though the classes take place after the ceremony. Also invited to take part are those who have already earned their CPO certification, but were unable to take part in a past ceremony.

There are three class sessions involving seven classes scheduled following the closing of the Mid-winter Conference. Those who will complete their requirements in the last three sessions can take part in the ceremony, but will receive their actual certificate of completion upon completion of all requirements.

Those who anticipate taking part in the ceremony are asked to contact Terry Canup in advance at tcanup@nmsu.edu

Class unit balance is a feature of the new system

Students who already have credit for classes because of scholarships or because they paid for classes they were unable to attend, will show a balance for the appropriate number of classes in the new County College registration system out this month. This will be called a class unit balance. These balances will be loaded into the student records on the new system this month. The system will also allow buying units such as affiliates, counties or departments to buy class units in volume and assign class units to students. One class unit is the ability to purchase one three-hour class. We will have more information on this shortly. The base price of a three-hour class without discounts remains $75.

Handbooks available on County College site

Early County College classes given prefix and number

Classes offered before introduction of the CPM program in late 2008 have not had a prefix like those in CPM or Affiliate curricula. Now, those classes have been given their own prefix CPOE, for Certified Public Official Elective and a number. Each class is recognized as being eligible to be used toward CPO elective credits and several are acceptable substitutes for CPM or affiliate classes (marked below with eq). If students would like classes not designated as equivalents to CPM or affiliate classes to be considered as such, they may appeal to Academic Director Dr. Diane Prindeville at: dmprinde@nmsu.edu Transcripts will reflect the new numbers and will reflect substitution equivalencies as follows:
