Lisa Shields is the Associate Director for parenting education programs in the southwest district. In this role, Lisa leads a team of action oriented family educators and staff and works to sustain program design and accountability. She earned degrees in Social Work and Marriage/Family Therapy from NMSU and is a state licensed Social Worker and Mental Health Counselor. She is currently a doctoral student working on a Ph.D. in Educational Administration.
Lisa has a 20 year history of working with families. In 1997, she joined NMSU as an adjunct faculty member while also practicing as a family therapist at a community mental health agency. Prior to working for NMSU, she was employed with the public schools and provided family-based educational services for the U.S. Department of Defense.
