Planning for the Future of New Mexico Water
New Mexico State University, College of Agriculture and Home Economics (CAHE) has historically been a strong leader in water resources programs which emphasizes better use of water and reducing impacts on water quality. The college is thorough in addressing many water related issues which are aimed toward the social, economic and environmental well being of New Mexico. It is a goal of the College that the best available science be applied to all aspects of water quality, use and management.

His Royal Highness Prince Feisal Bin Al-Hussein of Jordan will deliver the opening session keynote address at inaugural WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Exposition. His Royal Highness is chairman of the kingdom's Royal Water Committee and is active in water resource management and alternative resource development.

New Mexico Watershed Forum
The first ever New Mexico Watershed Forum "From Mountaintop to River Bottom" will be held September 30 - October 2, 2008 at the Marriot Uptown, 2101 Louisiana Blvd. Albuquerque, NM. The Watershed Forum provides an opportunity to learn about other watershed projects and restoration techniques, increase collaboration and communication about watershed restoration, network with watershed groups across New Mexico, and share successes, challenges and innovation.
Brad Lancaster, an expert on water harvesting, will give the keynote address. This statewide forum will bring together agencies, organizations, professionals, educators and citizens with an interest in watershed management, restoration and protection. Presentations and workshops will provide tools and information for people doing watershed restoration on the ground. A day of field trips will provide on-site learning about restoration projects.

NM Integrated Water Management Handbook
Integrated Water Management Handbook is now posted on the NRCS website, Located at NRCS Handbook.
The New Mexico Integrated Water Management Handbook is intended to be user friendly for use by planners with producers. It provides guidance on how-to evaluate and understand site-specific field conditions. This will enable an increased understanding needed to evaluate and implement alternative best management practices for irrigation water management.
