Best of Show means that of all the vegetables that were entered in the Sandoval County Fair – his onions were the best looking – perfect in every way – The Top Prize – of all vegetables entered!!
And they were beautiful too – when he brought them to the office, they looked almost fake - they were that pretty!!! Loren also won 3 - 1st Place Ribbons for his cherry tomatoes, white Texas Sweet 1015 Onions, and Gala Apples, and 2nd Place for his Cherokee Way String Beans, and Yellow straight neck Squash
Connie Walsh won 2 – 1st Place Ribbons for two crocheted hats “Ladies Winter” and “Kids Ski Cap”– She also won a 2nd place ribbon for her “crocheted Market Bag”

Jan Wilder won 2nd Place for her Strawberry Rhubarb Jam
Chris Behl won 2nd place for his pure unfiltered Honey with Comb – he would have won first place but this was last year’s honey and Elizabeth sneaked it in to the fair from her cabinet – and it had a bit of sediment on the bottom- otherwise he would have picked up 1st place. They loved the taste of the honey!
Elizabeth Hackett won 1st place for her Southern Pound Cake, 1st place for her Polish jam filled Kolaches (made with Jan Wilder, Martha Mann and Angie Trujillo’s jams), and 1st place for her Sourdough Blueberry Pancakes. The zinnia’s and dahlia she wanted to enter will bloom this week! But thanks to Jim Bjurman and Loren Meinz – they will still bloom – even in this heat - 1 week later (as one week on vacation that the seeds did not get planted) Boy Jim and Loren good on their predictions of bloom almost to the day!
