Two nutrition educators certify families for WIC benefits, evaluate the client's growth and levels of iron, analyze nutrient intake and provide nutrition education. The NMSU WIC office is open Mondays and Fridays from 8:00-5:00pm (closed from 12:00-1:00 for lunch).
Family Referral Services
Along with all of the trials and tribulations that we face in today's society, raising a child to his or her full potential is no easy task. Our goal is to provide the families we serve with the resources they need. We offer information regarding community services and families decide which specific provider to choose. Some of the information we provide includes child care providers, community agencies, stores and restaurants that are located in the surrounding area.
Backpacks for Kids
Every August the FRC and the Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AFCS) work together to collect school supplies and monetary donations to provide the children of NMSU and DACC students with backpacks and supplies for the coming school year. We recently held our seventh annual Backpacks for Kids drive and handed out over 240 backpacks. Registration forms for this event are provided at the FRC.
