Image of FFA students at Career Development events

Future Farmers of America (FFA)

Over 1300 middle and high school FFA students from all over New Mexico came to Las Cruces to participate in Career Development events such as agricultural mechanics, livestock, land and wool judging, food science, and identification of insects, flowers, and dairy products. You may have noticed the sea of blue and gold jackets around campus from Wednesday to Friday as students congregated in hallways of the Corbett Center, Pan Am, and Gerald Thomas Halls. Many of these students are future Aggies and they will be our leaders in agricultural literacy in schools communities around the state. The mission of Agriculture Education and FFA in New Mexico is to prepare today’s youth for careers in tomorrow’s global agriculture industry. See NMFFA Org for more information.

The second floor of Gerald Thomas Hall has a new look, with 48 large photographs lining the hallway between the Dean’s office and student classrooms. Images express the Research, Extension, and Academic missions of the ACES College and feature students, faculty, youth, 4-Hers, and Extension clientele. The images were curated by Jeanne Gleason’s team in the department of Innovative Media Research and Extension in the ACES College.
