Dean's Office

  • Lowell Catlett was the keynote speaker for the American Association of Bovine Practitioners annual conference general session in Albuquerque, NM. The conference registered 1,000 attendees which included veterinarians and veterinary students. The American Association of Bovine Practitioners is an international association of veterinarians serving society as leaders in cattle health, welfare and productivity.

Academic Programs

  • Three ACES Departments held welcome back programs for new and returning students. Plant and Environmental Sciences offered ice cream sundaes outside Skeen Hall to all students, faculty and staff. Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management served hamburgers and hot dogs for all students as well as their very own student DJ for entertainment on the lawn outside the HRTM office area. Entomology, Plant Pathology and Weed Science held a Courtyard Barbeque for students, faculty and staff at the Skeen Hall Courtyard. Students (as well as faculty and staff) always enjoy the free food and open discussions.

  • Mason Moore, a sophomore in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business, has taken a leadership role as NMSU Ambassador for Agriculture Future of America (AFA). AFA exists as a catalyst in the preparation of a new generation of agricultural leaders. It is nationally recognized for its excellence in leader training and career development for college students and young professionals in the agriculture and food industry. We are proud of Mason for his accomplishment in this new role.

Plant and Environmental Sciences

  • Dr. Paul Bosland gave a presentation about the world's hottest chile pepper and its discovery during the Project Discovery event on September 19th. NMDA provided a salsa bar that had salsa from all over New Mexico. It was a hot event!

Media Productions and Learning Games Lab

  • The Wall Street Journal listed the NMSU Math Snacks game Monster School Bus among games "that can help offset linguistic disadvantages for small children" and positively impact their early math education. Thanks to an ongoing partnership with the well-known educational portal BrainPop, some big names in media are beginning to take note of games and animations produced by Media Productions and Learning Games Lab.
