The Learning Games Lab will be hosting two types of Think Tank sessions this summer – one for kids entering grades 3 & 4 and the other for those entering grades 6 & 8 in the 2017–18 school year. We welcome students entering these grades to apply to become consultants at one of our sessions. Selected consultants will play games, participate in design activities using multimedia tools, and reflect on their daily experiences through blogging and video journaling while developing their media literacy and 21st century skills, such as collaboration, design, and communication. They will also be exposed to possible career paths in the industry.

Sessions for this summer are:

Sessions for Grades 3–4:
Digital tools for documenting your life

  • Monday, June 19–Friday, June 23
  • Monday, July 24–Friday, July 28

Sessions for Grades 6–8:
Multimedia and math

  • Monday, June 5–Friday, June 9
  • Monday, July 10–Friday July 14

Complete the online application to be considered for participation in a session. Please note that an application does not guarantee admission. Selection is based in part on research needs and on the potential of the applicants to contribute to our research.

If you are selected to participate, you must commit to attending every day of the session. Also, there is a $50 charge for each session for meals, materials, and supplies, which can be waived depending on financial circumstances.

Forms should be turned in by Friday, May 19. Selected consultants will be notified by Friday, May 26.
