Creating Educational Media that Doesn't StinkFor the 2011 eXtension Community of Practice Meeting, Jeanne Gleason and I share our strategies for designing educational media and games, including avoiding educational design myths. We also share some of our innovative products and discuss ways to work together in grant partnerships to develop educational tools.
Snacking and Gaming: What We Know So FarAt the Games for Health Conference (2010), we reviewed existing research regarding snacking, and the impacts of gameplay on snacking. We also shared initial data on a pilot study conducted in NMSU's Learning Games Lab, where we compared snack consumption across three types of activities: video game play, board game play, and video watching.
Exergames Unlocked: Case Studies of Unique & Successful Community Based Use of ExergamesAt the Games for Health Conference (2010), we reviewed the Exergames Unlocked initiative, including work on the website, exergamesunlocked.com. We shared content from the site, as well as lessons learned on successful ways to use exergames with specific audiences.
