McGuire Hired as Valencia County Extension Home Economist

LAS CRUCES -- Danette McGuire began work March 10 as the Valencia County home economist for New Mexico State University's Cooperative Extension Service.
McGuire, a Carlsbad native, will coordinate educational and leadership programs for 4-H youth groups and Extension Homemakers clubs in Valencia County. She also will recruit and train volunteer 4-H leaders.
McGuire comes to NMSU from the Redpath Apparel Group in Denison, Texas, where she was a merchandise coordinator. She also has previous experience as an assistant manager at Cloth World.
She received her bachelor's degree in home economics from NMSU in 1990, with an emphasis in family and consumer sciences. In addition, she received a certificate of gerontology from NMSU the same year.
McGuire has been a member of Collegiate 4-H, the American Home Economics Association, and NMSU's Agriculture and Home Economics Student Council.
