NM Youth Ranch Management Camp

Participant Information


Below is important information regarding the NMYRM Camp from June 8-13, 2014 at the Valles Caldera National Preserve.

Liability, Medical and Media Release Form
Complete, sign and email the Liability, Medical & Media Release Form (300-A.3) to sserna@nmsu.edu or fax to 575-646-7042 by June 6th. If you have food allergies we need to be aware of, let us know ASAP. Although the form references the 4H program, completion of the forms does not enroll camp participants in the 4H program.

What to Bring
The camp will be in the mountains and weather will be cooler and possibly some inclement weather. Although all meals and snacks are provided, participants are welcome to bring additional snacks (no refrigerated items). If you have specific dietary needs, do not hesitate to let us know.

Sleeping bag/ bed roll, extra blankets, pillow
Towels, washcloths
Toiletries (tooth brush, soap, shampoo, etc.)
Jacket, sweatshirt, coat, raincoat
Outdoor clothing
Boots, comfortable outdoor shoes
Shower shoes
Flashlight
Insect repellent
Sunscreen
Hat, cap

Electronic/Mobile Devices, Laptops/Tablets
Cell phone service is limited however, participants are welcome to bring cell phones and network cards (or similar devices) for Internet access. Participants are also encouraged, but not required, to bring a laptop or tablet. Laptops/iPads will be provided for team projects with Internet access. This will assist in the preparation of the ranch management plan, as each participant will be assigned to a team and present a ranch management plan on the final day.

Resource materials for each day will be posted to the website. This may include presentations, images, websites, videos and iOS apps. It is not required, but if you plan to bring a laptop/mobile device, you are encouraged to review the resources and download prior to camp.

Dress Code
All camp participants should be prepared for outdoor activities and dress appropriately. All participants will receive a long-sleeve, denim shirt, which will be worn on Friday for final presentations.

Final Presentations
All camp participants will be assigned to a team and will present their final presentations on Friday, June 13th @ 9 a.m. Although space is limited, parents are welcome to observe presentations. If parents plan to attend presentations, contact Sonja Jo at sserna@nmsu.edu
