How to download Extension publications to your e-reader device
Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, Sony Reader, other devices
- Connect your e-reader device's USB cable to your computer.
- On the publications website, find the publication you wish to download
(MOBI format for Amazon Kindle, EPUB format for all other devices). - Windows PC: Right-click the file you wish to download. Mac: Hold down the Ctrl key and click on the file you wish to download.
- Internet Explorer/FireFox: Choose "Save Link As..." / Safari: Choose "Download Linked File As..."
- Navigate to the "documents" folder of your e-reader device and click "Save."
- Eject your e-reader device from your computer.
- When you turn on your e-reader device, the publication you downloaded should appear in your library.
Apple iPad
- Connect your iPad's USB cable to your computer.
- On the publications website, find the publication you wish to download (EPUB format for iPads).
- Windows PC: Right-click the file you wish to download. Mac: Hold down the Ctrl key and click on the file you wish to download.
- Internet Explorer/FireFox: Choose "Save Link As..." / Safari: Choose "Download Linked File As..."
- Save the file to your desktop.
- Open iTunes.
- In iTunes, click "File" then click "Add File to Library..." (PC) or "Add to Library..." (Mac).
- Select the EPUB file from your desktop and click "Open".
- Click on the "Books" section of your Library.
- Locate the file you downloaded and drag it to your iPad Library.
- When you turn on your iPad and open iBooks, the publication you downloaded should appear in your library.
Troubleshooting
Issue: Publication does not appear in my e-reader library.
Solution:
Ensure that you have downloaded the correct eBook file format. Amazon Kindle uses the MOBI format, all other
devices (Apple iPad, Barnes & Noble Nook, etc.) use the EPUB format.
Solution: Download the
file again and save it to your e-reader device. Problems with the download may cause the eBook file to not be
displayed in your e-reader library.
Solution: Verify that you have correctly saved/synched
the eBook file to your e-reader.
Issue: Publication does not display properly on my
e-reader device.
Solution: Ensure that you have downloaded the correct eBook file format.
Amazon Kindle uses the MOBI format, all other devices (Apple iPad, Barnes & Noble Nook, etc.) use the EPUB
format.
