Project Description: An essential part of farming operations is using efficient irrigation methods. Accordingly, it is important to monitor soil moisture and salinity build- up in the root zone. The procedure to have soil analyzed in a testing laboratory can be time consuming and expensive. However, automated soil sensing devices can measure soil water and salinity. The purpose of this project is to test these sensors in laboratory and field tests to determine if they are accurate and less expensive for agricultural production.
