Aggies Go Global
Background
The College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences (ACES), NMSU's International Relations Institute (IRI), in cooperation with the Office of Study Abroad and Cooperative Educational Services, is partnering with a team of highly motivated students to initiate a program to promote international learning experiences.
The current fiscal, political, environmental, and social climate requires a fundamental understanding of diverse populations and cultures. New Mexico businesses, state and local governments, and the non-profit sector will benefit from leaders with international capabilities who are able to succeed in multi-national environments. Students will be placed in an international location to gain experience related to their field of study. In addition to gaining career experience, they will increase their cultural competency.
NMSU, ACES, and IRI will work with the private sector, government, multi-national agencies, and many non-profit organizations, to help our students locate and participate in educational projects around the globe.
The main objective of Aggies Go Global is to provide undergraduate students with global learning opportunities aligned with their professional aspirations. These students will have the opportunity to apply their skills to today's global challenges requiring sustainable solutions. The next generation of leaders need to be responsible citizens of the world. International experience gained early in their education will allow them to make great contributions to New Mexico, the United States and our global community.
The Mission
"Provide students with international experience opportunities to stimulate their educational development."
