2011 Service Learning for Women program

Objectives

Anabela Manhica and mentor Dr. Tom Dormody (2011)

1. Develop skills in Adaptive Extension methodology.
2. Gain confidence in public speaking and teaching.
3. Develop a collaborative relationship with their NMSU mentor.
4. Network with women in leadership positions at NMSU and in New Mexico agriculture.
5. Visit and observe model activities at NMSU's Cooperative Extension Service and NMSU Agricultural Experiment Station.
6. Strengthen leadership skills.
7. Develop an understanding of basic policy making.
8. Develop familiarity with technology.
9. Develop an innovative project to be completed at home in Africa.
10. Gain knowledge and perspective about the cultural milieu of the United States.
