Special Initiatives

The College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences is aggressively involved in finding solutions to current problems in New Mexico. Many of our research and community educational programs are guided by community advisory groups, which help focus our efforts on improving the economic and environmental conditions and personal quality of life in our communities.

  • Aggies Go Global
    Provides advising and financial support to NMSU students seeking non-credit international experiences outside the classroom.
  • Certified Crop Advisory
    The NMCCA program is part of the largest certification program in agriculture in the United States and Canada.
  • Chile Pepper Institute
    The only international, non-profit organization devoted to education and research related to Capsicum or chile peppers.
  • Food Safety Laboratory
    The New Mexico State University Food Safety Laboratory (NMSU FSL) is a Biosafety Level 2 food microbiology laboratory that develops and evaluates of rapid methods for the detection of pathogenic microorganisms in foods.
  • Small Farm & Ranch Task Force
    The New Mexico Small Farm & Ranch Task Force sustains the productivity and viability of the land and the farm and ranch families that live and work in New Mexico.

    A non-profit organization composed of growers and producers who are fighting to ensure the chile industry remains and prospers in New Mexico.
