Animal and Range Sciences
The Department of Animal and Range Sciences is part of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.
Four on-campus animal facilities house beef cattle, horses, swine, and sheep.
To provide premier programs to those we serve by focusing on education, research, and outreach.
Undergraduate Degree Programs
Fully equipped labs allow students access to cutting-edge research in: livestock nutrition, genetics, physiology, endocrinology, meat science, wool, toxicology, watershed and rangeland ecology, weed and brush control, plant systematics, grazing management.
The Department also offers pre-veterinary studies - our graduates have a high acceptance rate into veterinary medicine programs.
The Department is a sponsor and participates in the U.S. Dairy Education & Training Consortium USDETC. This provides students the opportunity to take classes preparing them for a career in the dairy industry.

In addition to undergraduate degrees, we offer graduate degrees at the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy levels. The M.S. or Ph.D. in Animal Science can emphasize nutrition or physiology, and the M.S. or Ph.D. in Range Science offers the option to study in areas including, but not exclusive to, range ecology and watershed management.
