New Mexico Distribution Map

Size: 19-37 mm.

General distribution: S. British Columbia, Canada, to Wyoming, S. through Baja California, Mexico, to E. New Mexico.

Distribution in New Mexico: Western half of state; Chaves and De Baca counties in east.

Habitat: Grassland

Host: Probably forbs; can also be reared on grasses.

Adults Present: June-October.

Notes: Has less distinct dark markings on tegmina than C. sulcifrons; hind tibiae yellow to orange. Crepitation pattern resembles ticking. Not economically important.
