Common name: Obscure Grasshopper.

Size: 13-25 mm.

General distribution: S. central Canada through western United States, S. into Mexico.

Distribution in New Mexico: Statewide.

Habitat: Grassland.

Host: Grasses.

Adults Present: April-October.

Notes: Pale, slant-faced grasshopper with straight sides to lateral dorsal pronotal bands (similar Eritettix has constriction toward middle); hind tibiae brown; without curved lateral pronotal marking found in Eritettix; tegmina shorter or as long as abdomen. Can be destructive to range grasses and small grains.
