Pardalophora saussurei (Scudder)

Common name: Saussure's Grasshopper.

Size: 39-63 mm.

General distribution: Nebraska, S. through Texas and E. New Mexico.

Distribution in New Mexico: Chaves, Eddy.

Habitat: Grassland.

Host: Reared on grasses.

Adults Present: May-September.

Notes: Similar to P. haldemani, but inner hind femora blue, black, or greenish; colors of hind tibiae and hind wing basal area variable, often yellow to rose-red. Not economically important. May intergrade with haldemani.
