Size: 29-45 mm.

General distribution: Kansas, S. to E. Mexico, E. to Virginia.

Distribution in New Mexico: Chaves, Eddy, Lea, Quay, Roosevelt, Socorro, Union.

Habitat: Sand hills.

Host: Unknown.

Adults Present: May-October.

Notes: Similar to S. collare, but males larger; pronotum more pointed; median pronotal crest higher; hind wings not as pale; hind femora with four black bands on inner face; hind tibiae orange to red. Not economically important.
