Common name: Say's Grasshopper.

Size: 29-47 mm.

General distribution: Alberta and Saskatchewan, Canada, S. to Texas and northern Mexico.

Distribution in New Mexico: Chaves, Guadalupe, Lea, Quay, Taos, Union.

Habitat: Grassland.

Host: Forbs, grasses.

Adults Present: July-November.

Notes: Similar to S. campestris, but differs in habitat and in having a very low median pronotal crest, cut by one or two sulci; hind tibiae orange. Not economically important.
