Size: 30-46 mm.

General distribution: Alberta and Saskatchewan, Canada, S. to Arizona and New Mexico.

Distribution in New Mexico: Bernalillo, Dona Ana, Chaves, Cibola, Colfax, Guadalupe, Lincoln, McKinley, Quay, Rio Arriba, Roosevelt, Sandoval, San Juan, San Miguel, Socorro, Taos, Torrance, Union, Valencia.

Habitat: Sand hills, eroded areas, other sandy habitat; sometimes on soft, shale soils in Raton area.

Host: Forbs? Reared on grasses.

Adults Present: April-August.

Notes: Similar to X. corallipes, but with irregular, less distinct, spots on tegmina. Not economically important.
