Dr. Betsy Bender Stringam is the Professor for Hotels and Resorts. Dr. Stringam received her Bachelor's degree in Hotel Administration from Cornell University, her Master's in Hotel and Food Service Management from Florida International University, and her doctorate from Northern Arizona University. Dr. Stringam recently completed an additional Master's Degree in Educational Learning Technologies and a Graduate Certificate in Online Teaching and Learning. She has also served as a faculty member for The University of South Carolina, Penn State University, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Prior to her career in academics Dr. Stringam worked in the hotel, resort, and restaurant industries at both the corporate and property level.

Dr. Stringam is the author of the book: A Profile of the Hospitality Industry. She also serves as the Collection Editor for Business Expert Press's Hospitality and Tourism Collection. Dr. Stringam is recognized by the American Resort Foundation as a Registered Resort Professional, by the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association as a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE).

Dr. Stringam conducts research focused on hotels and resorts. Her work examines management strategies of hotels and resorts, the role of online user generated rating and review processes for hotels, technology and the changing hospitality workforce, loyalty and satisfaction of hotel and resort guests, and vacation ownership resorts. Dr. Stringam's research is widely published in academic journals, and in international hospitality industry publications. Dr. Stringam also currently serves as a contributing editor for several hospitality and tourism journals.
