AES Associate Director 2021 Search

The NMSU Agricultural Experiment Station is in the process of hiring a new Associate Director. Two candidates have been invited to NMSU Main Campus for interviews, although due to COVID-19 restrictions, all sessions will be offered via Zoom, due to limited in-person space.

Please see below for a brief bio of each candidate that has been invited, their tentative interview schedule and C.V.

Marina Denny

Dr. Marina Denny is currently an Assistant Professor and Program & Staff Development Extension Specialist in the School of Human Sciences at Mississippi State University (MSU). She was an Extension and Research Associate in the MSU Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture from 2013 to 2015. Prior to coming to Mississippi, Marina served as county Extension faculty for the University of Florida IFAS for 12 years. Near the end of her tenure in Florida, Marina was the Extension Director for Manatee County, a strong agricultural county with a growing urban coastline. In this role, she was accountable to a hybrid staff (university and county) of 22 professionals and a budget of $1.2 million. She was a liaison between the county commissioners and university administrators, developed and nurtured an active and influential stakeholder advisory committee, clearly illustrated impacts and outcomes of Extension to the local community and policymakers, and solicited extramural funding.

Now, as an Extension program and staff development specialist, her Extension teaching and research efforts target three critical stakeholder groups: established personnel that can serve as mentors; new hires that need onboarding and mentoring; and potential employees and advocates for Extension and the land-grant mission.

Marina has a BS in Wildlife Ecology & Conservation, an MAEd in Environmental Education Curriculum & Instruction, and an EdD in Organizational Leadership.
