Distichlis spicata

Distichlis spicata (L.) Greene

Inland saltgrass, desert saltgrass, zacate salado

Height: 1-4 dm

Elevation: 850-2290 m

Found in moist soils that are alkaline or saline

Not very palatable, but in saline areas it is grazed due to lack of better forage especially in the winter.

It is a good plant for protection against erosion because of its rhizomes.
