NM EDGE, a service of New Mexico State University's Cooperative Extension Service, is a program designed to provide a comprehensive course of study to administrators, managers, elected officials, and staff in local, state, tribal, and national government, through which participants can acquire and apply the best practices and theory to their management behaviors and strategies using the highest professional standards.
The NM CPM curriculum is a natural fit for NM Public Managers wanting to pursue continuing education that includes national recognition.
The NM Certified Public Manager Program® (NM CPM) is the feature program of the NM EDGE. Other programs include the NM Certified Public Official Program (NM CPO) and the NM Certified Public Supervisor Program (NM CPS). Each of these programs offer classes from the core NM CPM curriculum and each builds on the previous level towards completion of the NM CPM.
Additionally, the NM EDGE offers certification programs through its County College, a program developed with New Mexico Association of Counties, and specific to county offices such as NM County Assessors, NM County Clerks, NM County Commissioners, NM County Treasurers, GIS Professionals, Detention Officers & Administrators and Cooperative Extension Service Professionals.
Furthermore, the NM EDGE also administers The NM CAPE (Certified Advocated in Public Ethics) Program which is designed to provide New Mexico public officials with a comprehensive course of study in public service ethics including how ethics relate to New Mexico law, Decision-making, Public-private partnerships, Stewardship, Conflict of interest, Appearances v. reality and much more.

New Mexico Certified IT Professional Curriculum Announced
The NM EDGE and the NM IT Curriculum Committee, in collaboration with our Strategic Partners, are pleased to announce the completion of the New Mexico Certified IT Professional curriculum! This newly developed certification will be added to our New Mexico Public Sector Specializations program, which is open to all public servants in State, Municipal, County, and General Public Service Sectors.
Please join us in offering a special thanks to each of the IT Curriculum Committee Members who gave freely of their time and expertise to craft this certification. Without their diligence this project would never have reached completion! Thanks, too, to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for offering the use of their IT Curriculum Model for our tweaking, to Laura Gonzales for securing UNC's permission, and to the New Mexico Association of Counties for sponsoring lunch at one of our curriculum development meetings. This was truly a group effort with many contributing to the successful completion of this challenging and important project.
Please the following link to view the new certification class requirement checklist AND the following to view a copy of our class catalogs showing class descriptions for these classes.
We anticipate launching classes later this year and will keep you posted when we do!
