Herbicide Cost Share Program Announced
The San Juan County Extension Office will be conducting an Invasive Weed Control Program. Participants will be reimbursed at a rate of 100% of the herbicide cost if applied by the land owner or 50% of the cost to hire a licensed applicator. Land owners may participate by filling out the required application and returning it to Extension Office. Applications may be picked up at the Extension Office at 213A S. Oliver Dr. in Aztec or by following the link below. Funds are limited; for full consideration please return application by June 30, 2017. Although all applications will be considered preference will be given to projects that address noxious weeds such as Russian knapweed, Musk Thistle, Scotch Thistle, Canada Thistle, Hoary Cress, among others and will follow herbicide treatments with a restoration effort appropriate for the land use desired. The herbicide treatment must match the corresponding weeds. All restricted use chemicals must be purchased by a licensed applicator.
For additional information please call the San Juan County Extension Office at 505-334-9496. The Extension Agent is also available to identify weed species and make control recommendation prior to application submission.
