Strong Seniors Stay Young
Fall classes begin August 30th at Mesalands Community College. Classes will continue until December 8, 2016. We will meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.

This exercise program, for middle-aged and older men and women, will be co-led by Phil Tafone, College Fitness Center Director and Brenda Bishop, Extension Family Consumer Science Agent.

To enroll, an information packet must be picked up from the Extension Office at 216 E. Center Street. The forms must be filled out and a doctor's release obtained before the start of class. The cost for the series of classes will be $20 per person and must be paid on the first day of class. Persons who have taken the class previously do not need a doctor's release, but must reserve a spot. The class is limited to 25 people. More info...

Steak will be on the menu. Each sale exhibitor will receive a ticket. Parents will need to purchase tickets for $10.00 ea. Sale exhibitors will also need to provide a dessert for the dinner.

The Fair Board will have your pictures ready and in frames for the dinner. The dinner will be September 25, 2016 at 2:00 pm. At the dinner you will be asked to greet and visit with your buyer and help serve the meal. You will also need to be prepared to announce your buyers and deliver your pictures to the buyers. Chile Field Day
The 2016 Chile Field Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Los Lunas Agricultural Research Center, 1036 Miller St. SW, Los Lunas, NM.

Information on weed management, mechanization research, and New Mexico chile varieties will be presented. Mechanical harvest and chile roasting demonstrations will be conducted. The event is free and open to the public.

ACES street festival will be held on September 6 from 5-9 p.m. at College Road (between Gerald Thomas Hall and Skeen Hall).

There will be live music from the Chris Baker Band, food trucks, relay games, and student clubs/organizations to welcome all students to home to Aggieland! Admission to the event is one can of food or $1 to be donated to the Roadrunner Food Bank and Casa De Peregrinos. Who doesn't love bubbles in their wine? Sparkling wines are essential to celebrations around the world. But what is the difference between champagne and sparkling wine? Cava and Prosecco? Join us to taste the best of them from around the world.

Both sessions will be presented by Dr. Michael Wray. Michael is a professor of beverages at Metro State University, Denver. A former Army National Guard Lieutenant Colonel, he holds five different wine and wine education certificates and diplomas. He was instrumental in the design and construction of new food and beverage teaching laboratories and the Tivoli Brewing Company on the Metro State campus.

When you think of wine, food, and culture, you think of France and Spain. Learn about and taste the distinct wines of France, focusing on the Bordeaux region, and Northern Spain

Presented by Professor Mohsen Azizsoltani, MS. Mohsen has taught at University of Nevada, Las Vegas since 1994, including courses in restaurant management, bar management, wines, and beers. He is certified in Bordeaux wine education and was the Director of UNLV, the college's largest scholarship fundraising which evolved into a three-day beverage and food festival, from 1994 - 2015.

Presentations will be held from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Bobby Lee Lawrence Academy of Wine and cost $15 per person, except as noted. More info...

Western Pecan Production Short Course hosted by NMSU
The Western Pecan Production Short Course will be held on Oct. 17-19 at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces. The registration fee is $350. Click here to register:
