The Quay County Ute Lake 3D Shoot on the Nature Trail will begin 8:00 a.m. at Ute Lake. There will be 50 targets available for the shooting event.

Fees: $35.00 for Adults, $20 for Young Adults (14-17), $10 for Youth (9-13), with those under 8 years of age admitted free. The Entry fee includes parking permit for Ute Lake.

Novelty shoots will be hosted by the Friends of Ute Lake. This is a joint fundraiser between Friends of Ute Lake and Quay County 4-H Shooting Sports Program. More info...

New Mexico Prescribed Burning Workshop
The New Mexico Prescribed Fire Council will hold a workshop July 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wagon Mound Public School, for the benefit of anyone interested in using fire as a management tool on their private land.

Using prescribed fire on private lands can be challenging. In some cases, landowners may not have the information, labor, equipment, and expertise necessary to conduct prescribed burns in a safe and effective manner. However, with a little training these challenges can be overcome.

Historic Garden Restoration presented by the Santa Fe Master Gardeners Association
Historic Garden Restoration will be the topic of the July workshop lead by the Santa Fe Master Gardeners Association.

The Santa Fe Master Gardeners began working with the Historic Santa Fe Foundation in late 2012 on restoration of this garden in a manner that reflects locally responsible gardening practices. After an initial assessment (existing plantings, soil characteristics, availability of water, etc). They developed a garden design and a work plan to address the needs and enhancements of this established garden.

Now in its third year, project activities will focus on pruning, drip irrigation, relocating plants to eliminate crowding, adding new plants, maintenance of compost bins and recommending other improvements to the garden.

The workshop will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the Garden at El Zaguan , 545 Canyon Rd Santa Fe. More info...

NMSU to co-host Acoma Agriculture Resource Day in July

Learn ways to make farming and ranching sustainable and enjoy the flavors of a chile cook-off at the sixth annual Acoma Agricultural Resource Day on July 24.

Beef Quality Assurance training will be offered on Thursday, July 23, in conjunction with the ag day. Both events will be presented by New Mexico State University at the Acoma Pueblo Auditorium on Pinsbaari Drive in Skyline-Ganipa.

The events are part of NMSU's Southern Pueblo Beginning Farmer Rancher program, conducted by Cooperative Extension Service agents with the Rural Agricultural Improvement and Public Affairs Project. More info...

    Bring your family to the 10th Annual Fall Farm Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Los Lunas Agriculture Science Center, 1036 Miller Street, Los Lunas. The Valencia County Cooperative Extension Service is hosting this event as a fundraiser for the Valencia County 4-H Program.

    The Forage Workshop focuses on the small to medium sized hay and pasture farms in the Middle Rio Grande Valley as well as forage producers of all sizes of operations in New Mexico.

    New Mexico Prescribed Burning Workshop
    The New Mexico Prescribed Fire Council will hold a workshop July 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wagon Mound Public School, for the benefit of anyone interested in using fire as a management tool on their private land.

    Using prescribed fire on private lands can be challenging. In some cases, landowners may not have the information, labor, equipment, and expertise necessary to conduct prescribed burns in a safe and effective manner. However, with a little training these challenges can be overcome.

    NMSU to co-host Acoma Agriculture Resource Day in July

    Learn ways to make farming and ranching sustainable and enjoy the flavors of a chile cook-off at the sixth annual Acoma Agricultural Resource Day on July 24.

    Beef Quality Assurance training will be offered on Thursday, July 23, in conjunction with the ag day. Both events will be presented by New Mexico State University at the Acoma Pueblo Auditorium on Pinsbaari Drive in Skyline-Ganipa.

    The events are part of NMSU's Southern Pueblo Beginning Farmer Rancher program, conducted by Cooperative Extension Service agents with the Rural Agricultural Improvement and Public Affairs Project. More info...

    Second annual Grape Day to be held Aug. 1
    The Viticulture Program along with the New Mexico Vine & Wine Society will host a field day, Grape Day, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 1, at NMSU Fabian Garcia Science Center. There will be three tours of the vineyard at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. There will be no charge to the public for the tours.

    There will be a grape vine sale where plants will be $5. They will be selling a variety of red and white wine grapes as well as a select variety of Table Grapes. More info...
