Girls/Boys Explore! applications are open now. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2024. You will be notified of selection by April 30.
Remember, this program is FREE for all participants, and we provide all the necessary gear. You will not need to purchase anything extra to participate in Girls/Boys Explore!

Selection Process
9th-12th grade students from the Las Cruces/El Paso area middle and high schools are encouraged to apply. We especially encourage you to apply if you are from a low socioeconomic background, a student of color, if or if you identify with other groups underrepresented in fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
You will be selected to participate in Girls/Boys Explore! based on your motivation, interest for science, and team spirit, as expressed in your written application. No previous backpacking experience is necessary, nor are grades a determining factor. Preference is given to those who have not had similar previous opportunities. Though preference is given to residents from New Mexico or Texas, anyone can apply as long as you can provide your own transportation to/from the meeting location. Gas reimbursement can be provided, if needed.
