The Office is 'Open' to the public. Please follow current NM Health Department Guidance.

Agents in Office

The Agents are working, but may not always be present or available in office. Please call ahead for their availability or make an appointment directly with the agents.

Plant Samples

Plant and insect samples are best accepted at the office Mon - Wed each week. Please call ahead to make sure a person is present to accept your samples. Due to volume of samples received and people's schedules, samples are taking longer than normal to process.

Large Wasps

The office has received calls about large wasps which are the 'Cicada Killer' wasps, common for New Mexico. The Asian Giant Hornet a.k.a. 'Murder Hornet' is not confirmed here in NM. If you are concerned, please read the NMSU Publication Large Wasps in New Mexico. Also, please submit any pictures or samples to your local extension office for proper identification.

  • Pressure Canner and Canning -- Aug 25 from 1-3pm. Set up an appointment to have your canner checked or ask an expert on canning and food preservation. Call the office 505-243-1386 to set up a time.
