Kathryn Petty

Kathryn "Katy" Petty is a graduate research assistant under the advisement of Dr. Shannon Norris - Parish. Katy is currently working towards a master's degree in strategic agricultural communications with a focus on utilizing photography for educational purposes in the agricultural water sciences. Katy’s research assistantship also focuses on educating audiences about water depletion, contamination, and conservation. Originally from Silver City, New Mexico, Katy knew she wanted to stay in her home state for her higher education and received her bachelor's degree in agricultural communications with a focus on journalism from New Mexico State University. When Katy is not at NMSU, she spends her time as a professional freelance photographer focusing on martial arts. She also actively competes and participates in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In her free time, Katy enjoys studying paleontology and history with a particular interest in the ancient Roman era.
